International jobs website www.jobsinchildcare.com has reported that the number of nannies and childcare staff seeking jobs in the UK and Europe has increased over the last 2 months.
The job website, described as a ‘free way for childcare specialists, teachers and tutors to search a large variety of childcare job vacancies worldwide on a simple and trustworthy platform noted a 30% increase in traffic from March until May 2020, as the worldwide Coronavirus pandemic begins to ease. In particular, the site reported that live-in nannies, governesses and full-time tutors have been more in demand now than at any point so far in 2020.
Founder James Alger suggests that the recent increase in traffic and job applications could signify a return to normal life in Europe after COVID-19, whilst also reflecting the number of childcare professionals who now find themselves out of work. “As schools, nurseries and employer families across the world have downsized staff due to financial and social distancing restrictions, many nannies and governesses now find themselves unemployed and on the lookout for a new position”, he reports. ‘It remains to be seen how many public positions there will be to come back to, and when these roles will become available.’
Mr Alger also notes that some of the most secure job positions will now be found working within private families. ‘Childcare is, of course, not something that can be outsourced to machines or computers, and childcare staff should be acutely aware of the benefits of working in private VIP families following this period’, he states. ‘Whilst VIPs are traditionally less affected in a crisis due to large personal resources and wealth diversification, they are also those with the desire to continue to pay for the best for their children and maintain the environment they desire for them. And this doesn’t go away, even when the world finds itself in a ‘crisis’ situation.’
Jobs in Childcare reported that for those looking for a nanny job, the only realistic route to employment is currently online. And while restrictions are still high, nanny jobs in London are indeed available for those prepared to undergo a quarantine period before starting work, or those ready to consider live-in positions with families who are willing to share their home in return for a guarantee of their children’s wellbeing.
Jobs in Childcare also noted that high salary professional governor and governess jobs, which offer a more educational aspect of childcare, continue to be advertised. Again, this is likely due to the nature of VIP families who do not feel the same strain to curb their expenses as those who have less resources at their disposal.
The Jobs in Childcare website offers agencies a simple way to advertise their roles to a wide range of qualified candidates from different countries and backgrounds. On the website, agencies looking for candidates can find teachers, tutors, nannies, governors, governesses, household staff and more. It is renowned as a useful platform for teachers and tutors to search a large range of vacancies suitable for them across the globe.
