New Coastal Road âA Speed Corridor for Khargharâ
The growing and expanding city is all set to get a new 6-lane eight to nine km speed corridor for direct connectivity from Kharghar node to the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport. CIDCO has decided to tender the coastal road before the year-end. The connectivity of the node to CBD sector 15 near Sarovar Vihar will be a 10-minute motoring running creek side along the backside of Kharghar railway station to the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport.
Kharghar-Turbhe âEight Lane Tunnelâ
Due to the long traffic jams during the peak hours at morning and evening on the Sion-Panvel Expressway, the state government has decided to construct a six-km long tunnel connecting Turbhe and Kharghar. The eight-lane tunnel will save two hours of travelling for the commuters and will also assist in managing the daily traffic on the Sion-Panvel Expressway. The state government has started preliminary work for the eight-lane Turbhe-Kharghar Tunnel. The six-km-long route will also connect Sanpada, Nerul, and Belapur along with being a conjecture for Turbhe and Kharghar.

The City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) has envisioned Kharghar as a completely planned node. In its endeavour to make it one of the self-sufficient localities in Navi Mumbai, CIDCO has built a golf course, a skywalk and a Central Park in Kharghar. The Central Park, which sprawls 80 hectares in Sector 23, 24 and 25, has become the centre of recreational activities in the area since its inauguration.
